CAJUN COUNTRY REVIVAL RETURN TO MID WALES
Here's another rare chance to see one of the world's top Cajun Bands in one of the best venues in Mid Wales They are performing on Friday 30th August at 8pm at The Lost Arc, Rhayader shortly after headlining Shrewsbury Folk Festival. There will be a chance to dance, enjoy some food and drink and listen to this amazing band. Last year's performance near Presteigne was one of the best ever seen in Mid Wales.
Spanning generations the Cajun Country Revival is a veritable supergroup of American roots musicians. Comprised of Cajun musicians Jesse Lége and Joel Savoy and singer guitarist Kelli Jones, this group presents a music that seems to embody all of the things that make life wonderful. Together, they’ve delighted audiences around the world celebrating rather than “performing" the genre that unite them - Cajun music and early Country music.
Son of Cajun music royalty Marc and Ann and the founder of the Louisiana-based label Valcour Records, Joel Savoy is a GRAMMY winner for his production work with The Band Courtbouillon and a nine-time GRAMMY nominee, as well as two time winner of the Cajun French Music Association’s Fiddler of the Year Award.
Sharing the stage with Joel for the last 15 years is the legendary Cajun powerhouse, Jesse Lége. Growing up in a pre-electricity home in Gueydan, Louisiana, Jesse spoke Cajun French and learned music from relatives, neighbours and the family's much-loved battery-powered radio. Today he is one of the most admired Cajun accordionists and vocalists in the world today.
Completing the Revival line up for this tour is Kelli Jones, singer and guitarist daughter of musician Carl Jones, who has been a regular visitor to this part of the world for many years.
