The Old Time News is the magazine which is sent out to all FOAOTMAD members four times a year. It has two aims

- To keep members updated on FOAOTMAD activities
- To present a broad range of articles and features on old-time music and dance

Regular features in the magazine include:
- Festival reports – write-ups of old-time festivals and those bluegrass festivals which feature old-time acts
- Have you seen – CDs, DVDs and books get the once-over from our team of knowledgeable reviewers
- Woodshed – a FOAOTMAD member presents the tab for a tune, usually for fiddle or banjo (note: other instruments are available). Members can access the Woodshed archives via their Membermojo home page.
- Diary dates – for future concerts, tours and festivals
- Classic cuts – an occasional series highlighting those 'must-have' recordings for your old-time collection
- FOAOTMAD matters – the place where we keep members informed about FOAOTMAD business.

Contributing to Old Time News
Like any magazine, we depend on a supply of interesting material. There are various ways in which you can contribute

- Why not do a write-up of a festival or picking camp? These can be short and quite informal.
- Been to see a good old-time band or set of dancers? Why not provide a short review for our reviews section?
- You might also consider contributing a woodshed piece or a Classic Cut
- if you have become interested in a particular issue relating to old-time music or dance you might consider writing a longer article about it. You can always email the editor at [email protected] to get some feedback on your idea.
- You could become a member of the review team. You will be sent a list of material which is available to review and you can pick anything which takes your fancy. To find out more please contact our reviews editor on [email protected]
Submitting material for review
We are always delighted to review new releases of old-time material. In most cases these are CDs, but anything relevant is of interest – DVDs, books, instrument tutors. The full instructions for how to submit your material can be downloaded here:
