LATEST NEWS & EVENTS

Four Old Time Music Events in the South West 2024

2/4/2024

13 - 16th June  Moon Pickers, Stoke St Mary, Taunton TA3 5BY
A lovely, peaceful setting within easy reach of the M5/A358, near Taunton. Camping in a flat field close to a pub, which serves food and welcomes sessions. Derek, who owns the field, is a banjo player and a great guy. Arrival from Thursday makes longer travel time worthwhile.

Last year we shared a traditional afternoon cream tea, only interrupted by the dulcet tones of a cricket match across the hedge!
No set charge, but we strongly suggest a minimum donation of £20 per person for the weekend, to contribute to Derek’s costs. There are no showers, portaloo toilets. (see also 5th September)

28th June  Ebborways Farm Campsite, Priddy, Somerset BA5 3BA
This is a gorgeous setting not far from Bristol. We get our own space on a shared campsite with campfire - log contributions gratefully accepted. There's a pub close by which serves food.

There are nice, clean compost toilets but no shower.
Please note, there is a curfew for playing music at 11pm.
Cost is £8 per night, pay on arrival at the farm 200m from the entrance.

26th July Poltimore Arms, Brayford Down, EX36 3HA
Yup, this is a singular and interesting venue: it's charming, rural and completely off grid.
You need to bring cash to pay at the bar! The pub occasionally does food or will order in a group takeaway. No charge for camping but please use the pub for drinks.

Sessions are welcome, and a cosy fire in the bar if it's cold. Well worth Googling this one. Beneath his gruff exterior lurks a very kind landlord. His camping field behind the pub is flat and accessible. Suffice to say, last year the rain was biblical throughout the weekend and we still want to go back! There is no shower, but pub toilets are available 24/7.
